LA: day 5

One of the things my mom and I really wanted to do together was go to Palm Springs for a spa day. We had heard that Palm Springs is beautiful and has great hotels and spas. On Monday night, we were both on our computers watching The Voice... Mom got a Living Social email for a hotel deal in Palm Springs! It was a sign. We had to go!! We made a reservation for Tuesday night, packed our bags quickly, and went to bed!

We had tickets to "The Talk" Tuesday morning. My mom had gone a few weeks ago with her friend Lisa, and they ended up walking away with over $600 worth of merchandise from a give away! They heard that the show does give aways on Tuesdays and Thursdays, so we were pumped to go on a Tuesday.. We woke up early with our bags packed for Palm Springs, and headed to Studio City for the taping of the show.

It was fun, but a little cheesy. My mom kept telling me to smile and act excited so we would get on camera.. I don't think I did a very good job because we were only on once. :) Super model Molly Sims was the guest host, and Simon Helberg from "The Big Bang Theory" was the guest. They did do a give away, but it wasn't nearly as much as what my mom got last time. We ended up going home with Living Proof shampoo, conditioner, and a hair mask worth around $65. A little disappointing, but at least we didn't go away empty handed! (And the shampoo smells amazing!) It was a fun experience, but we were both ready to leave town and head to Palm Springs!
So off we went! A two hour drive in the convertible with the top down!
Our hair was quite tangled after two hours of this.
We were too excited to stop for lunch, but we had a bag of granola in the car left over from breakfast.
The views were incredible! Huge mountains.
The temperature near Palm Springs was 89 degrees, but there was snow on top of the mountains!
The air was warm and dry. We had arrived in the dessert.
Look at our colorful hotel! We stayed at The Saguaro. I had seen this hotel on A Cup of Jo last month month when she posted about a rainbow hotel, so I recognized it when my mom found the Living Social deal. So fun and festive.

We headed to the pool as soon as we arrived and enjoyed margaritas and guacamole in our brightly colored lounge chairs.
We both went to the spa for facials which was heavenly. When we got back to the hotel room the sun had started to set. The mountains in the distance were magical.
Then we headed downtown for dinner!
We ended up at a quaint little Thai restaurant and ate outside. It was wonderful. We were kind of separated from the tourists, so it was nice to relax and enjoy a quiet late dinner together after a fun-filled day!!

    1. Thanks, Nina! I got it from this store here at the Mall of Georgia called Fiore.. It's not a chain though. The brand is Ellison, so maybe that helps! It reminds me of your yellow one you were wearing in last week's vlog.. or at least what I could see of it. :)
